Brand new Instructional embroidery videos!

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

Jenny’s Sewing Studio has created some brand new embroidery video’s for you to view! Take a look!

The first is our gift to Mother for Mother’s Day. Watch a video on how I created the 3-d flower pin. Embroider the design on  2 layers of  ”no show mesh” stabilizer and cut it out to create a free standing flower. Layer the flowers to create a pin. I am going to place my flower on a new purse.  I have embroidered a stunning black and white combination. Design your own. The designs are free  in XXX, PES and FHE and so is the video.

My next 2 video’s are on the editing program on the Singer Futura. See how to create an applique design in the Singer futura software using the editing option. Watch how I used “stitch to block” to edit a downloaded free design using the Singer Futura software.

I have also written a new video on how to create redwork using the Digitize N Stitch software. Digitize N Stitch has a lot of hidden talents. I hope to show you more as time goes on. Here are some of the past video instruction on other Amazing Designs software products. Are you interested in Amazing Designs software? You can test out the various software packages like Personalize N Stitch, Digitize N Stitch and Edit N Stitch using this link.

Sewing machine bobbins and bobbin thread

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

There are many bobbins available at Jenny’s Sewing Studio. It is essential you pick the right bobbin for your machine. I have been in the sewing machine repair business a long time and checking the bobbin is one of the first things we do. You would be surprised how many use the wrong bobbin.

If you have old bobbins it also might be wise to discard them and replace with a new supply as a bad bobbin can also cause sewing problems. One of the first things we do when repairing a machine is to replace and rewind the bobbin to eliminate that issue. Run your thumb over the top of the bobbin to make sure it is smooth and snag free. To help you restock Jenny’s Sewing Studio is having an anniversery sale and we are offering some great discounts.

Bobbin thread is also a very important product to have on hand and use while embroidering.  Since I am a multi-line dealer I have learned there are different bobbinfill for different machine. The manufactor sets the spects of the machine to a brand of bobbinfill they choose as the best brand for them.  That means the tension will preset to an otpium setting if you use the suggested brand. Jenny’s Sewing Studio has most brands available in spools and prefils.

Here are several links for your bobbin choices:

Chromium Sewing machine needles

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Chromium needles are for all sewers who want the best.  The chromium needle is recommended for the Singer sewing machine, especially if you are using a built-in needle threader or doing embroidery. The chromium needle has a large eye to make needle threaders work every time. Another great feature is it strength for high speed sewing. We designate Singer Chromium with styles 2000 and 2001. The 2000 is for woven fabrics, things like broadcloth, denim, towels and hats. The tip is sharp. The 2001 is for knits. thing like tee shirts, velour, polar fleece, and double knit. The tip is slightly rounded.

Jenny’s Sewing Studio carries a variety package of needles sizes in each type of Chromium needle. Use the size 11 for light weight fabrics, use the 14 for medium fabrics and a size 16 for heavy weight fabrics.

The Chromium needle can make all the difference in the way the machine performs ! See our special price offers on the Chromium needle. Jenny’s Sewing Studio also offers chromium in bulk pricing.

Inspiration with embroidery

Saturday, February 27th, 2010

At Jenny’s Sewing Studio my mom use to have this poem posted over her desk and I thought I would share it with you in verse and embroidery.  I think the sentiment is great especially in today’s economic times. The techinque to embroider the verse involves multi-hooping. The “Hoop it all” will help you by eliminating the constant rehooping.  Just slide the hoop forward to the next hoop center and continue to embroidery the 2nd and 3rd hoop set. I will include the Lord’s prayer demo which is like the “Don’t Quit” poem in technique.

Here is my poem called

 ”Don’t Quit”

By Leo Piggott

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit—
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!
Life is queer with its twist and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may suceed with another blow.
Often the goal is near then
It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor’s cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown,
Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when your hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit.

Note: As you type in a poem for embroidery create each line as a design element so you can edit the spacing or lettering later with ease.

How to split a large embroidery design

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

I am sure you have run into the problem of having a really large emroidery and wondered how you could embroider the design  and keep the size as it is. My favorite software for splitting a design is Amazing Design’s Edit N Stitch. The program is easy to use and splitting designs is a snap. I have created a video to show you how. Amazing Designs has also loaded a free trial of the software so you can try before you buy.

Once you have viewed the Edit N Stitch software video and the trial you may want to watch our video on the Hoop it all double wide and quilter square hoops. Hoop it all makes your small field embroidery machine able to handle any embroidery size. Buy the triplex and save a lot because you do not duplicate the tables and cables.

Here is a  link to Jenny’s Sewing Studio hoop it all page!

Dancing with the Stars in Singer Futura embroidery!

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

dancingdancingcrossYou to can “Dance with the Stars” using the Singer Futura embroidery.  In this simple exercise I have used a basic piece of clip art to create both the autopunch embroidery and the cross stitch embroidery. It is great to get a comparison before you stitch it out. The cross stitch is great to use when jump stitches seem to form too much on  the artwork. The software digitizes the embroidery instantly and also save the design in your favorite format. Stitch the white background or leave it out. I have downloaded the dancing designs for you to try.

Create embroidery quilts with ease!

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

posiequiltblockcompleteHere I go again with embroidery and quilting but I can not help it!
The end results are so lovely! I am sure you will agree! I have pictured my quilt block and it’s parts. You can download them for free and try out my quilt block for yourself. posieblock

The steps include printing several copies of the posie flower design and one copy of the center. You can then tape them together create the quilt block. Each template should be punched with an awl at the center points so you can mark your fabric. This quilt block is easy to create by embroidering 4 seperate flowers and finally a center.

Send me you embroidery block ideas and I will post them on the blog!!
