Fast and easy sewing projects

Monday, October 22nd, 2012

I am making some fast and easy sewing projects for Christmas. The projects are so easy that a beginners could sew them. If you would like to learn to sew, see me at Hancock fabrics in Salisbury, MD.

The first is the “Ravens” scarf. My mom agreed to model the items for me to show you. The ravens scarf could be any football team. I purchased 1/2 yard of polar fleece. I folded the fleece in half and sewed the one side seam using 1/4″ seam. If you have a serger you can serge the seam. Next, I put my hand through the created tube and pulled the scarf inside out. Roll the seam so the seam is on one side. Straight the edges on the ends and straight stitch across each end about 5 to 6″ from the short edges. Cut through the fleece about every 1/4″ to the straight stitch across each end to creat the fringe.

My mom also modeled the polar fleece cape for me to show. Last week I gave you the instructions for the cape.  I am going to make a link to the instructions so you can check it out in case you did not read the newsletter. I monogrammed the sleeve for a personal touch. I am making 7 of these and 6 scarves so I will be busy sewing for a while.
