December 13th and 14th I will offer our next Singer Futura 2 day seminar. As a beginning embroidery student learn to stabilize and position your embroidery. We start out the class by making files and learning how to categorize and store your embroidery, what embroidery formats you can use and how to copy and paste files so you can find them later. We will then use a printed template to position and sew out a design. Next we will explore the functions of the basic Singer Futura embroidery software.

Class is scheduled for Saturday 10am till 5pm. Learn to use auto punch and the lettering options. Make your own monogram and embroider it out. Next learn to do a auto punch embroidery. If you have the endless hoop we will use it, if not we will work with templates to create continuous borders.

embroidery on ribbonI am sure you have thought about placing lettering and embroidery designs on straps, ribbon, and webbing. I will show you how to do this embroidery technique using tools in the Futura embroidery!  I have used auto punch  and editing and lettering options and show this in a brand new video. Take a look!

A lot of these technique involves sticky paper. We sell “Stick it All” and “Peel and Stick”. Both sticky papers will help you embroider items that can not be hooped. To see technique on stabilizers and hooping read this prior article on design placement.  I have loaded a link for Singer video to watch on proper hooping and stabilizer techniques.

JeanniecropLearn more about using your Futura software in our upcoming Futura Seminar December 13th and 14th 2014 at Jenny’s Sewing Studio in Salisbury, MD. The class is small for personal attention. Class is a 2 day event and held at Hancock fabrics. To enroll call Hancock’s at 410-677 3461.

Windows 8 update for the Singer Futura

Tuesday, January 8th, 2013

Recently Singer has annouced a Windows 8 update to the XL Futura software! The windows 8 update has downloadable instructions I advise you to follow.  The update will work on the XL-550, XL-400, SEQS-6700, SEQS-6000,  and the Quartet (FQ-4) I have recently purchased a new Windows 8 computer and am planning to take a local community college course on the operation of the new windows system. I am getting the hang of the system but my navigation skills are poor on Windows 8 after 19 years of using the computer.  I love skype, working on Windows live mail ( prefer my old outlook express), like being able to keep web addresses bookmarked by windows but am having a hard time finding my address book.Jennywindows8
