Frequently Asked Questions for the Singer Futura embroidery machine

rose     FAQ page about the Singer Futura by Jenny’s Sewing Studio is here! I have gathered my best observations and sage wisdom on the Singer Futura embroidery machine and placed it here for you to refer to. I will update the page from time to time as I learn a new technique…yes I am always learning! I hope it helps you have a successful sewing and embroidery experience with the machine. I have enjoyed hours of fun and achieved many embroidery projects and my best advise when having a problem is to stop, look and listen to the machine. It will tell you what is wrong if you are there to listen.

Problems with embroidery usually involve threading the machine. You will hear this over and over again. You may think you already threaded your machine correctly but there is a test you can try to see if you have. Lower your presser foot and pull on the top thread. Raise the presser foot and pull on the top thread. If there is not a definite difference, rethread!!! Until you become familiar with your Futura threading procedure, the thread issue will pop up. It is not the machine’s fault. Learn to use the Futura by carefully reading the manual and watching the provided videos. Singer has made it easy for you to learn. If you need my help, come to a Futura seminar I hold in Salisbury, MD.   You can also view the Singer threading video. (more…)

Advanced Singer Futura Embroidery class will be held August 1 and 2nd Saturday and Sunday. I know many Singer Futura owjanomepursesmners who took the Futura Seminar would like to come back and review techniques and learn new ones. I am designing a class that I think you will be excited about. I will provide fabric to sew a multi hoop design. The Multi hoop design will create the center of the purse front flap.  I am suggesting white designs on black twill. Here is a picture of a similar purse I have done in the past. A pattern will be provided for you to complete the purse later.

Next we will work with the draw program to create the several designs. Try free standing lace. Design a pocket and then create circle monogram applique. Image files and designs will be included in class. Videos will also accompany the techniques shown.

I have included several photos in my files for you to play with in photo stitch. We can run the software wizard so you can see how the quality of the photo and background really affect the end result.

Make sure you have all the options installed and ready to use for class.

There is a $20.00 kit fee for the materials that will be payable to the instructor. You will receive sample fabrics to sew all your designs outs and Hancock can sell you any coordinates you might need to complete the projects.   As you know seating is limited so enroll asap. Call Hancock at 410 677 3461 to enroll for only $150.00.

Christmas embroidered wreath

fillAs promised I am sharing my embroidered wreath. This is a very easy project. The hardest thing was wrapping the tinsel garland around the styro foam wreath.  Using my Futura Quintet and my new Singer Studio S10 I loaded several floral designs to embroider with red thread. I hooped 2 layers of sparkle organza and embroidered many of these flowers in my spare time. I cut each flower out and pinned it to the wreath.

It took a lot resizeof flowers. The purple flower design I found on the Singer Studio. I am including a link to a free design I made using auto punch. I am offering Auto punch as one of the 3 programs that will come free with the Studio S10.

I howreath60pe you  like my new Christmas wreath. Nice thing is I can keep adding things to the wreath using 3-D embroidery.
